Massage parlors are roughly broken into 3 categories, small shops, establish chain, SPAs

The small shops are usually dimly lighted to create a relax mood but it is usually quite cramped. The chair are tightly packed to maximize space, during the weekend the place can be quite packed with people thus you got to be patient for your turn. You can also get a body massage behind a curtain off area or a unlock room. Many of the massagers without uniform are freelancer, armed with an ear piece their phone frequently ring during peak hours to summon them to the next busiest shop. So don't be surprise to see the same massager working at different shops. Prices range from $20 for foot massage to $ 45 for a body massage.

I prefer the small shop as they can provide also good massage at the lowest cost. Their chair is also quite comfy; it is quite relaxing sitting in the dim room while someone massages your feet. But for body massage, the experience is not as good. You lie on a bed in a small sparsely décor room or a partion separated by a curtain.

The more establish chain will boast a better decoration and environment and not as cramped. The massagers are supposed to be trained under the same school and certified professional and do not free float to other shop. Thus quality control can be better managed and you can always call in advance to book your favorite massager. Of course they charge a higher price. Price is $10 to $20 higher than small shop. They are usually found in shopping centres, rarely in the neighbourhood shop

If ambient and more exotic massage is what you are looking for, visit a SPA. You will get a luxurious setting with facilities such as Jacuzzi, Sauna, TV lounge with nice scent abound. Exotic massages such as the Swedish massage, Aromatherapy massage, Tension release massage etc are available, attendant catering to your every need. Price $60 to $ 100++, usually the range is above $100 for basic massage and above $150 for more exotic massage.

Not all small shop and Spa actually want to provide good massage, some focus more on “special services” so get your requirement right. Massage price start from $28, Special: basic is $40 to $100 for full service. There are plenty of advertisements for massage parlors in the “the New Paper”, get a copy from the new stand for some guidance.

These are the tell tale sign for small shop;
Ø    They are usually fronted by China girls in sexy clothes trying to
seduce you to come in.
Ø    No male massager
Ø    Lack of female customers in the shop
Ø    No chair for foot massage
Ø    Advertisement boasting of young and beautiful massagers

For health Spa, it is harder to tell; but here are some possible sign

Ø    No male massager
Ø    Lack of female customers in the shop
Ø    Advertisement focusing on young and beautiful massagers
Ø    Massage price are much cheaper than other Spa
