Singapore is building two integrated resorts that have a casino each. The Marina Bay Sands resort is to be ready by 2009 while the other at Sentosa by 2010.
The Marina Bay Sands will contain business retail space, convention facilities, hotel guest rooms and a casino. There will be a Waterfront Promenade area with a multi-level retail arcade offering retail shopping and numerous indoor and outdoor civic spaces, excellent for a wide variety of activities for everyone.
The resort will boast three 50-storey hotel towers with a total capacity of 3000 rooms. There will be a 2 acres Sky Garden connecting the hotel towers, the view at the top will offer visitors an incredible 360-degree panoramic views of the city skyline and the sea. There will also be outdoor amenities such as pools, spas, jogging paths for the more active guests.
Apart from the hotel towers, an Arts and Sciences Museum will be developed on the promontory. A state of the art convention centre with two 2,000-seater theatres wraps up the business section of the Marina Sands. The entire complex will hold up to 4000 parking lots.
Resorts World at Sentosa will be a family-orientated resort containing four major attractions mainly, the Universal Studio theme park, a Maritime Museum, a Marine Life Park and a Water Park. The Universal Studio contains 24 attractions of which 18 of them are entirely new. There is also a variety of F&B and retail outlets to keep you busy. Also watch out for public entertainment such as the Crane Dance performing at the waterfront throughout the night.
While the two integrated resorts are being built, you can go on board cruise ships that provide casino facilities and gamble right through to the next morning! These casino ships offer day/night cruises. Examples of cruise ships are “Leisure World”, “Long Jie”, “Royale Star”, “SuperStar Virgo” and “ MegaStar Aries”.
Remember to bring your passport as you will be leaving Singapore. The departure point will be at HarbourFront Cruise Centre or Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. If you want to go on board Leisure World, one of the most popular casino ships among Singaporean gamblers, you need to take two ferries from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and 1½ hours to get to the actual ship, which is anchored in international waters off the coast of Batam.
You can choose a cruise trip that can last an hour or two to a few days package, either cruise to nowhere or somewhere. The cost can range from $20 plus to a few hundred dollars depending on the type of cruise vacation package you want. Food will be fully catered for.
Other than the casino, there are other facilities on board like Karaoke Lounge, Sauna Centre, Sports facilities, Mini Golf Driving Range, Restaurants, Gift Shops, Video Games Arcade, Fitness Centre, Hair Salon, and Foot Reflexology. Do note that facilities on different ships will differ so please make enquiries first.
Do ask if there is any minimum sum when exchanging for gambling chips. If you need to get extra cash from the counter, you can use NETS or Credit card, but there will be extra charges of 2% to 5% and a service fee.
